The SAPIO Research Institute of the Interlearning Foundation is a private e-learning research, consulting, and professional development organization, specializing in blended and online distance learning. "Blended" e-learning is a term used to describe learning that mixes various event-based instructional activities, including face-to-face classrooms, synchronous e-learning, and self-paced learning.
We believe e-learning requires the use of a new paradigm and the application of advanced curriculum and instructional design principles. Attempts to replicate the classroom experience online or to infuse the traditional classroom with the latest instructional technologies have not and will not work.
It is our philosophy that the appropriate mix and use of
interactive
learning technologies such as the Internet and the World Wide Web,
coupled with the traditional classroom interaction, can result in the
optimum learning experience. We believe the combination of these two
significantly different but
complementary instructional delivery systems can be utilized
to
maximize learning, knowledge, and human performance.
